YVY x Pascal Möhlmann

Pascal Möhlmann and Yvonne Reichmuth deny a pigeonholed labeling of their bold, sensational arts and crafts as provocative.

In an interview on their joint venture in the exploration of skindeep beauty, the two independent minds blithely discuss their shared instinctive tastes for, among other things, subtle humor, aesthetic expressiveness and an old-fashioned preference for experiencing art in physical reality that paved the way for the co-making of the three pieces of archaic armor dedicated to an imagined woman.

These beautiful pieces can be seen as emblems of the strength and resilient femininity persistently reflected in YVY's leather design, as well as tokens of courage and perseverance that has made this independent brand thrive and shine in its unwavering way.

Courage

Following a collaboration with Virgil Abloh, the Zurich-based artist Pascal Möhlmann teams up with YVY for 3 hand-painted accessories around the theme of «COURAGE».

The customized YVY-classics – the «UNI Shoulderpiece», the «Moon Belt» and the «Asymmetric Handharness»; all handmade in Zurich of vegetable tanned leather – are decorated with Möhlmanns paintings.

They depict fragments of body parts such as a screaming mouth, a wildly looking eye or a clawing hand as well as objects like a broken champagne bottle and some shards.

Pascal Möhlmann, born 1969 in Hilversum, Netherlands, is painting
since over thirty years. In 1994 he graduated «cum laude» in Fine Arts from the Utrecht School of the Arts (HKU). An admirer of Old Masters like Van Dyck, the artist describes his style as «Neue Schönheit with a punk-rock attitude». As a sought-after painter with a recognizable style he has painted numerous personalities such as Roger Federer, Caroline Vreeland or Bishops of the
Diocese St. Gallen.
